Eyemouth taken apart by Kelso

A clash of playing styles saw Kelso run out easy winners as Eyemouth slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season.

The Fishermen had accrued more than twice the points Kelso had managed going into this game, but that counted for nothing as they failed to turn up against their mid-table opposition.

In the absence of manager Carl Hudson, Eyemouth made the worst possible start, conceding in the first minute and then going further behind four minutes later.

As the away team struggled to play the football that they are becoming known for, they found themselves floundering, going into the break 4-0 down.

Chairman Douglas Aitchison felt that Eyemouth failed to deal with the direct style of their opponents. Even their sharpest marksman Stevie Shennan passed up chances in the second half, finding the Kelso keeper unbeatable.

“It’s very disappointing,” said Douglas, “especially with people travelling all that way to watch the team.”
