This was Lowick’s first game of 2015 and they made the long journey with only 10 players.
It was Lowick who had the better of the first 10 minutes with Jenny Patterson having a shot which was well saved by the Easingwold keeper.
A defensive mistake from Lowick led to a fine save from Laura Powell, and again Powell was called into action when a shot from the edge of the box was tipped over.
The game changed dramatically in the 15th minute when Powell was called on again, the Easingwold striker ran through onto goal and Powell ran off her line to block the shot.
The referee deemed that Powell handled the ball out of the area and sent her off and awarded a free kick just outside the box. Lowick were now down to nine players which meant a difficult afternoon ahead.
Mel Darling picked up the gloves to go in goal. Lowick now had the bit between their teeth and with the ever dangerous Michelle Stewart, Lowick always had an outlet.
Tt was Stewart who broke the dead lock after a ball from Patterson saw Stewart break free to release a fierce shot, which hit the underside of the bar. The referee deemed the ball had crossed the line so it was 0-1.
Stewart was shortly on the score sheet again with good play by Jenna Waddell to find Stewart who stroked the ball past the helpless keeper to make it0-2.
At the start of the second half Lowick kept up the pressure and were really making the ball do the work. It fell to Kirstie Tang who hit the ball from 25 yards to make it 0-3.
Easingwold’s heads were firmly down now and a mazy run by captain Patterson saw her score Lowick’s fourth.
Easingwold were then reduced to ten players when their No 8 was sent off for a tackle on Stewart. Lowick were starting to tire but Stewart was still alert enough to complete her hat-trick and make it 0-5 for the visitors.
This was a dogged performance by all the Lowick players who gave their all.Lowick are again on their travels on Sunday with an away match to leaders Boldon.
