A quite unbelievable afternoon at Home Park saw Coldstream bow out of the League Cup in the Preliminary Round.

The start was bright, Tait heading just wide from a McCrudden corner. Coyle then missed with the goal at his mercy, his effort hitting the outside of the post.

In a game packed full of controversy, Coldstream were then awarded a penalty but Tait’s spot kick was poor and Addison saved. J. Simpson then broke the offside trap, but after accelerating past his marker, he blasted wide of the near post to the frustration of the bench.

Coldstream dominated after the break and Tait quickly converted a nod down in the area not even a minute into the second half. J. Simpson then missed an absolute sitter which would have firmly put the Streamers in the driving seat.

Craigroystonequalised through Douglas and then took the lead against the run of play when Baxendale was adjudged to have brought Moncur down in the box. Douglas converted from the spot.

The home side went all out for the equaliser and with J. Simpson upended in the box they were given a second chance from the penalty spot. J. Ainslie opted to take the kick, but his attempt was also saved by Addison, who will be telling his grandchildren in years to come of his memorable day at Home Park.
