Eyemouth’s good run came to an end at Home Park, where goals from Steven Waugh and Owen Benzies gave Coldstream a derby win in Border Amateur League Division B.
Coldstream goalkeeper Steven Young was the hero 15 minutes from time when he conceded a penalty but then saved the resultant spot kick to secure the three points.
High-flying Eyemouth went into the game unbeaten in eight games, but although Coldstream were without several key men they took only two minutes to go in front.
Good play in midfield between Gareth Ford and Benzies set Waugh through on goal and he expertly slipped inside his marker and slotted past the onrushing Adam Stobbart in the Eyemouth goal.
The home side continued to dominate, with Benzies’ set pieces causing the Eyemouth backline problems.
But it was the away side who equalised when John Dougal’s cross-cum-shot looped over Streamers goalkeeper Young and into the top corner.
The home side had chances to take the lead again through Allan and Darren Simpson, but Eyemouth goalkeeper Stobbart stood firm.
It was from a Benzies set piece that the home side did eventually take the lead again, the youngster sending in a great corner which ended up in the top corner following a slight deflection off an Eyemouth head.
Chances were few and far between in the second half, but Eyemouth enjoyed the bulk of possession.
With 15 minutes to go Eyemouth broke through on goal and Young pulled down the attacker to concede a penalty. But the goalkeeper redeemed himself with a great fingertip save, pushing Andrew Patterson’s attempt onto the post.
