Chirnside turned in a disappointing first half losing three goals as they were defeated by Ancrum at Bridgend on Saturday.
Ancrum opened the scoring 15 minutes in when their striker was first to react to a long ball played over the top which the Chirnside defence failed to deal with.
Number two arrived five minutes later when a break down the right ended up with the winger slotting the ball past Todd in the Chrinside goal. Condy could have pulled one back for Chirnside but the keeper did well to tip his header over the bar.
Things did not get much better for Chirnside on the half hour when they lost captain Young to injury.
Ancrum added number three when their striker scored his second of the game with an overhead kick which hit the top corner. Christie nearly reduced the deficit near the end of the half but his sliding effort at the back post went inches wide.
Into the second half and Chirnside pulled one back after five minutes when Logie played in Armstrong to fire home. That goal should have acted as catalyst for a comeback but it was the home team who got the next goal. Following a cross from the left the big centre half rose above the Chirnside defence to head into the net.
The visitors saw plenty of the ball but failed to create many chances. Armstrong had one of the few but his effort came back off the post.Turner had Chirnside’s last chance of the game with a free-kick which the keeper tipped over the bar.
