Leith Athletic 5
Duns travelled to Leith on the back of a good display against Whitehill Welfare last week hoping for a repeat performance.
However, this was not to be, and within 30 minutes they were three goals down against the runaway league leaders and the game was more or less over as a contest.
On a plus point Duns striker Jordan Lauder netted his tenth league goal in his tenth league appearance this season - an incredible record in any league.
It took Leith just 12 minutes to open their account and they added their second just six minutes later.
The home side were then awarded a very soft panelty after 29 minutes but missed the spot kick. However, two minutes later they made amends by adding their third goal.
Half time couldn’t come quick enough for Duns with the score remaining at 3-0 at the break.
The second half did not see much improvement for the Dingers with Leith increasing their lead to 4-0 on 53 minutes.
Duns then made a double substitution with Lee and Pattenden replacing Bullen and Robinson.
This change certainly made a difference with several chances being created by the Dingers.
Duns were then awarded a penalty when, after some good work down the left, Pattenden was fouled in the box. Jordan Lauder stepped up and converted the penalty in his usual confident manner to make it 4-1.
Pattenden continued to cause Leith all manner of problems with Lee also being more creative in midfield.
Again Duns created several chances with shots on target but failed to add to their tally.
Leith added to their emphatic victory and increased their very comfortable lead at the top of the league with a fifth goal eight minutes from time.
This Saturday it’s King Cup action for the Dingers with a local derby match against Coldstream at Home Park.
