Double defeat sees Coldstream lose their grip at top of table
CRAIGROYSTON 2, COLDSTREAM 1It was a week to forget for Coldstream, who after losing 2-1 at home to Berwick Reserves in midweek, lost their position at the top of the First Division when they were beaten by the same score against Craigroyston.
The Edinburgh side have now taken over at the head of the table, leading by a point, and they also have a game in hand.
Coldstream went closest to scoring in the opening minutes when a Lee Lambert corner was cleared off the line but this seemed to stir Craigie into life, and Craig Anderson was unlucky to see his shot strike the crossbar.
Craigie broke deadlock when Wilson released Errol Douglas down the left, and his perfect cross was headed past Luc Glasper in the Coldstream goal by Stevie Moncur, Coldstream came close to an equaliser shortly before half time when a cross was cleared to Lawrie Cannon but Scott Ritchie did well to deflect his shot over.
The woodwork again came to Coldstream’s rescue early in the second half when Moncur beat Glasper but was unfortunate to see his shot hit the post, and to rub salt in the wound Coldsteam levelled Martin Allan’s chip over the defence saw Martyn Tait beat the keeper to score.
What proved to be the winner for Craigie came when Hendrie headed home a corner at the back post.
•In the midweek defeat to Berwick Alan Hay gave Berwick the lead after 69 minutes with Keith Lough doubling the advantage after 75. Jonny Simpson pulled one back for Coldstream.
