Depleted Dingers put an end to Rovers’ good run of form

Duns pulled off a shock victory against in-form Peebles Rovers for only their fourth win of the season.

Teenager Regan Graham and their substitute trialist netted for the Dingers, to move Neil Oliver’s side up to 11th in the table.

It was the visitors who had two good chances to score through Andy Noble in the first period. However, Scott Lumsden did not have to make the save as the former Hawick and Selkirk man missed the goal on both occasions.

Duns, who had to field manager Oliver due to being short of players, had a chance when Connor Devaney’s free kick was saved by Gordon in the Peebles goal. Craig Edgar missed a great chance as Duns gained in confidence in the second half.

The Dingers missed their own golden opportunity of the scoring when a perfect through ball released another trialist but he was denied by Dean Clark’s challenge.

But the opening goal came on 65 minutes as Graham drove at the Peebles defence and hit a low shot past Gordon. Graham was also denied by Clark when the Rovers’ defender made a goal line clearance.

Peebles kept pushing for an equaliser but Jason Girdwood’s side were unable to find the net and Duns managed to double their lead 15 minutes from time as poor Peebles defending allowed Falconer to score from close range.
