Before the match the players of both sides lined up in front of the stand to hold a minutes silence for Coldstream’s Honorary President Morain Scott who sadly passed away recently.
Coldstream broke the deadlock when Danny Simpson coolly slotted past the Spartans keeper. However, their lead lasted only two minutes as Spartans equalised when Simpson fired a shot past Watson from 20 yards. Seven minutes later Gair gave the visitors the lead with a well taken goal.
Worse should have followed for Coldstream when Spartans were awarded a penalty but Watson saved Dickson’s poorly struck spot kick. The Streamers then had Michael Allan sent off on the stroke of half time.
With Coldstream down to 10 men it was going to take a huge effort and thats just what manager Davidson got. Danny Simpson scored a great equaliser and then Langford beat the offside trap to put the Streamers in front. Things got even better for Coldstream when Simpson’s header was blocked, but Langford was on hand to knock the ball home from three yards to put the Streamers 4-2 in front.
Simpson pulled a goal back for Spartans and it was real backs to the wall stuff for Coldstream, but they held on for victory.
