Coldstream got their new season off to a successful start with victory over Borders rivals Peebles.
The Streamers started brightly with Crawford and Robinson in fine form without really testing the visiting keeper until he made a wonderful save from a Crawford header.
Coldstream made the breakthrough when Logan was tripped in the box and Crawford made no mistake from the resulting penalty. Wales made it 2-0 just before half time with a screamer into the top corner from 25 yards.
Peebles came more into the match after half time and reduced the deficit when a long cross was headed past his own keeper by Logan. They went close again with a Smith shot which was well held by Walters and they had another chance to equalise when Zavaroni beat Hebdon but his long range effort went well over the bar.
Coldstream moved up a gear and came roaring back into the game. From a Robinson corner a Sutherland header crashed down from the crossbar and over the line to make it 3-1 despite dissent in the Peebles ranks over the legitimacy of the goal.
Sutherland went close again before Robinson rounded of a fine performance with goal number four, a cracking drive from 20 yards.
Mackay, Zavaroni and Smith for Peebles found their way into the referee’s book for various offences.
All in all a most encouraging and forceful performance from the Streamers although Peebles may feel that the score did not do their efforts justice.
