Brady hits deserved winner for Berwick Reserves

BERWICK RANGERS RES 2, COWDENBEATH RES 1After going down 2-1 away to East Fife Reserves in their opening SPFL Reserve League match last week, Berwick’s Reserves were deserved winners of this game at Shielfield on Tuesday night.

Berwick almost snatched the lead a minute before half-time. Man of the match Damian Gielty played the ball into the path of Greig Tulloch. Keeper Callum Speedie managed to turn away Tulloch’s shot far enough to prevent Connor Scott returning fire.

A minute into the second half, Jamie Baddouh scored for the visitors with a great hit into the far corner of Paul Grant’s goal. Josh Morris should have levelled after rounding Speedie but hit the bar. Morris had better luck in the 62nd minute, a slight deflection helping his effort from 10 yards on its way into the net.

Gielty sent Ross Gray through but Speedie saved brilliantly, tipping the ball over the bar. ‘Beath striker Declan Byrne got in a couple of attempts on goal but Berwick clinched victory in the 74th minute when the versatile Ross Brady,finished off.
