Rangers’ deal for defender ‘might have gone cold’

Berwick Rangers have been chasing a defender from a first division club, but this week assistant manager Robbie Horn says he is uncertain the deal will go through.

The Shielfielders had hoped to be in a position to unveil the player some time this week, but Horn said: “I’m not entirely certain it is going to happen now.

“We were at an advanced stage in our talks, but now it might have gone cold, although we are not giving up all hope.”

In other news, it has been confirmed that gate prices will remain the same for the 2014-2015 season.

In addition to that, a price freeze has been placed on season tickets, which should mean the adult price is £150, concessions £75 and juniors just £10.

Berwick hope to play two pre-season friendlies at Shielfield before the start of the official season and July 12 and 19 have been pencilled in against as-yet unnamed opposition.

They also plan to play away, on July 5, in a behind closed-doors game, whilst they will travel to take on Spartans and Whitehouse Welfare in Edinburgh in mid-week challenges.

The first competitive match for the team will be on Saturday, July 26 in the Ramsdens’ Cup.
