Berwick Rangers are hoping to cash in on a money-spinning cup tie against Rangers at Ibrox.
Berwick beat Livingston 3-2 in the first round of the Ramsdens Cup at Shielfield two weeks ago, and their reward is an away tie against Rangers in the second round.
Scheduled dates for the game are August 20 or 21, but Berwick chairman Brian Porteous revealed at the weekend that there was a possibility it could be put back to a later date because of a music concert which is being held in Glasgow at the same time, whilst there is also a possibility that the game may be televised.
Porteous said he was ‘absolutely delighted’ with the draw.
“It is a real bonus to get Rangers at Ibrox, because it means we should make some money out of the game,” he said.
“Obviously that will depend on the size of the crowd at Ibrox, but we are hoping it will be a decent sized gate.”
Following a directors’ board meeting on Saturday Porteous informed manager Ian Little that some of the revenue from the game would be made available to him to strengthen his playing squad.
Porteous also revealed that the club would be paying for a supporters’ bus to take fans through to Ibrox for the match.
