VETERAN Berwick Rangers goalkeeper/coach Ian McCaldon is prepared to step aside to give new loan signing Marc McCallum some game time.

Berwick mananger Ian Little has revealed that McCallum, who has signed on loan from Dundee United until the end of the season, is in line for a possible quick call-up.

The former Scotland U-19 international was on the bench at Ibrox when Berwick lost 4-2 to Rangers, but Little says he may throw him in to the starting line-up soon.

“It all depends on ‘Eagle’ (Ian McCaldon),” he said.

“People might think I have signed McCallum as back-up, but I have spoken with Ian and he says he is happy to let the younger players have a chance,

“Ian still has a big role to play with us, but if that is still his opinion it may be McCallum will get his chance.”

McCallum’s arrival has meant the departure of Youssef Bejaoui, who has been released.

Bejaoui was a regular in the first half of the season, but has missed the last few games with a broken and poisonous toe.

“I’m not quite sure what Yossi’s intentions are,” said Little. “He has just moved house and got a new job and I think he might be thinking about taking some time out before making a return to the game.”
