BERWICK Rangers have signed Dundee United goalkeeper Marc McCallum on loan until the end of the season, while Youssef Bejaoui has been released.

McCallum, 19, has been on loan at Peterhead for the first half of the season, but only made five starts. He played in the 2-0 defeat at Ibrox and his last match was against Clyde on November 17.

The 6ft 3in keeper, who spent four months on loan at Forfar last season, has been capped for Scotland four times at Under-17 level and moves to Berwick in the hope of playing more regular first-team football.

McCallum is described as a goalkeeper who commands his area with authority, something Berwick have been missing.

Bejaoui was signed by manager Ian Little from Cowdenbeath in the summer after a loan spell at Shielfield at the end of last season.

However, his form as been patchy this season. He was dropped after making mistakes in the 5-2 Scottish Cup replay defeat at home to Stenhousemuir, and was then sent off the next week when playing for the reserves.

After being given another chance, Bejaoui, 26, lost his place after another poor display in the 6-3 defeat at Stirling Albion and was replaced by goalkeeping coach Ian McCaldon.

Bejaoui has missed the last few games with a broken toe.

However, Little has made it clear he was looking for a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window.
