Keira Waddell, of Duns Badminton Club, was in outstanding form and crusied to victory the Girls’ Singles after being seeded 1st for the event.
Keira won all of her games in her pool and was then in the unfortunate position of playing her doubles partner Naomi Branford from West Lothian in the final. Following three very tense but exciting games Keira emerged victorious.
Callum Smith also progressed well to qualify for the A singles and made it to the semi-finals while Liam Smillie also won the D Singles event.
In the Doubles, Keira and Naomi won all of their games and lifted the title making Keira both Singles and Doubles Champion.
Callum and his partner Calum Flockhart were runners-up in the A Doubles event.
Tyler Smith and Isaac Weir made it to the B Doubles semi-final while Ninian Grant and Liam Smillie won the B Doubles.
All in all there was a strong Borders presence at the event with all children playing exceptionally well and displaying good sportsmanship.
The next big event will be the Kelso Junior Badminton Club Open Tournament on December 2 at Kelso High School.
