And with the rallying season now well under way right across the UK, competitors are wondering what lies in store on this joint second round of the 2014 MSA British Rally Championship and fourth round of the ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship.

For the moment, the two Clerks of the Course are staying tight lipped about the route and the stages.

But this event is already pretty unique in both Championships. Although the Ulster Rally (Rd 4) and Isle of Man (Rd 5) events are held on tarmac roads, the Jim Clark (Rd 2) event is the only one on the British ‘mainland’ to run on closed public roads.

As far as the national Scottish Rally championship is concerned the JC Reivers Rally is the only tarmac event in an otherwise all-forest rally based series.

The success and appeal of the two events in Scotland and those on the Isle of Man and in Northern Ireland have proved that such events offer a huge and exciting spectacle for visitors and a valued boost to local businesses in and around each area.

Ahead of the Jim Clark Rally weekend, the British Rally Championship will stage the first round of its 2014 series in Carlisle on the weekend of 3/4 May, while the third round of the Scottish Rally Championship will be staged in Aberdeen on 26th April.

For the moment, Borderer Euan Thorburn (Duns) leads the Scottish Championship by two points (after 2 rounds) from David Bogie (Dumfries) and Quintin Milne (Aberdeen), but as for the British Championship, we’ll need to wait till after the Pirelli Rally first round at Carlisle to see who the front runners are.

The Event Regulations and Entry Form for both the Jim Clark and Reivers Rally events are now available on the event website:
