A selection panel form Judo Scotland selected them after they competed, and based on their performance over the year in the Judo Scotland Grand Prix league.
Johnny Rutherford (11), Caitlin Black (12) and David Fotheringham (14) attended their first training session with the squad at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Kincardine on Saturday. In the morning the Judo sessions began with Johnny having a busy session with the A Band boys whilst Caitlin trained hard with the Pre Cadet squad.
David was invited to join the Scotland Team and their coaches for tough outdoor fitness session in the morning before heading indoors for the afternoon Judo session with the other Cadet boys. All three fitted in well with the other judoka and impressed the coaches with their hard work and positive attitudes.
Getting three members of a small club accepted onto the Talent Development Squad is a great achievement for East March and a credit to their coaches George Tones and Gavin Smith both from Eyemouth.
The club meet in Foulden village Hall on a Wednesday night at 7pm and are happy to accept new members from the age of six upwards whether for fun, self-defence or with competitions in mind.
