Duns RFC is a club which is growing and developing more and more with every passing season, with 2012-13 being the biggest to date.
The 1st XV had a very mixed season last season, eventually finishing a credible fourth in East League 1., This season sees them once again being coached by the very experienced team of Brian Richardson and Peter Gallagher. On the playing front there have been the retirement and moving on of some stalwarts of the club, as well as university and world travel callings for some of last season’s regulars.
This season is very much a chance to see what the youngsters can do with the addition of last season’s colts and the return of some older legs in Jamie Renton and Hayden Martin.
This season promises to be one filled with fast flowing rugby, and a raft of new faces are going to be given their chance to earn the right to wear the badge.
Duns RFC are looking forward to an exciting season at all levels this year, with the growth of the PCS programme through our dedicated subcommittee attempting to help the club reach out into the community.
The continued development of the new clubhouse and pitches is proving a very exciting project, with massive community benefits when ‘The Move’ to the High School eventually takes place.
Our 2nd XV were rampant last year and shot up to the top of the league very early on, and after a restructure half way through the season putting them in a higher league they went on to win that too, a tremendous achievement to all involved.
The resurrection of the 2nd XV is a massive boost for the club and is proving popular with over 40 different players playing for them last season.
They are in RBS Reserve League East 2 this season and will be up against some strong opposition. Hopefully they will receive as much support as they deserve this season when at home.
