Borders Badminton Fourth place in Scottish Schools event

Despite missing a couple of key players, the young Borders Badminton team finished in an excellent fourth place at the Scottish Schools Junior Inter-Area Tournament in Wishaw.

Scottish Development squad player Robbie Patterson, (Eyemouth Primary) was outstanding, winning six of his seven singles games. An unwell Linsey Young (Broomlands Primary, Kelso) battled on, forming a formidable mixed partnership with Duns Primary’s Gregor Murray. Gregor showed great determination and Young produced some clever point scorers at the net.

Lizzie Edmondson (Coldingham PS) had to step up to the role of first lady and play singles for most of the day and did so superbly. Ryan Angus (Edenside Primary) worked tirelessly in the level doubles while Aaron Lee (Broomlands) contributed some strong play. Leona Rhind (Duns Primary) was outstanding, and Keira Waddell (Duns Primary) showed great determination. Newcomers Abbey Nicol (Reston PS) and Callum Smith (Duns Primary) were unphased by the older, more experienced players.
