Berwick are top of the RBS Border Regional Shield mini league after crushing Hawick Linden in a one-sided encounter at Scremerston.
Not for the first time this season, the front row of Gareth Black, Tom Jackson and David Eagleton pummelled their opponents into submission, laying the foundations for the Blacks to score eight tries and continue their fine run of form.
Openside flanker David Gilchrist scored four of them, while blindside flanker Alex Frost, a late inclusion in the starting line-up due to Tony McDougall’s injury, was named man of the match for an outstanding performance.
The home side were 26-0 up at the break thanks to tries from Gareth Hill, Jackson, Tom Riddle and Gilchrist. Hill converted three of them.
Gilchrist touched down another four times in the second half, with Jack Webster also crossing the line to complete the demolition job.
With the main pitch at Scremerston waterlogged, this tie took place on one of the outer pitches, and it was the hosts who made the most of the sodden conditions.
Berwick’s speedy back division and strong pack proved far too much for the visitors, who struggled to get a foothold in the game.
The home pack was far just too strong.
