A Duns man is hoping that a public vote will secure funding for a theatre troupe helping to put people with learning disabilities centre stage.
Jonathan Allan, 39, now lives in sheltered accommodation at Garval, West Linton.
Registered blind, and with severe hearing loss, he has for the last 16 years enjoyed being part of productions with Edinburgh’s Lung Ha Theatre Company.
Lung Ha was recently nominated for a National Lottery Award in the arts category.
Jonathan said: “When it gets closer to a performance, we can rehearse up to four times a week. It is tiring but fun.
“I enjoy the dancing, the acting, seeing old friends and meeting new people.
“Performing is fun, and I don’t really get nervous.
“Lung Ha is a good, interesting project, and people always enjoy our performances. We want to do more and to keep the group going.”
The winner of the award is decided by a public vote, and Jonathan would be thrilled if readers of the Berwickshire News were to vote for Lung Ha.
