WOOLIE the sheep did not have the best of starts in life but despite only having one eye and a deformed jaw he has been well looked after at Castlelaw Farm, near Coldstream, and his owner abd those who help look after him were devastated to discover last week that Woolie had gone missing.
Duringf last week’s storms they were out trying to find four year old Woolie after the alarm was raised that he was no longer in his locked pen where he was kept alongside three goats. Woolie is believed to have gone missing some time between 9.30am and 4pm on Wednesday, January 4 and a yellow van was seen in the area during that time and has been seen again since, raising concerns that the goats may be.
As well as being a much loved pet, having been hand reared as a lamb, Woolie is also something of a star, having featured in an episode of the children’s TV show ‘The Return of Tracey Beaker’ in 2010.
“What I am concerned about is that he may of been killed by now,” said a worried Ciaron Drane who helps care for Woolie .
“The fact he has not got a tag means it is unlikely he would be taken to a slaughterhouse. He is a pet rather than anything else and I have seen people hanging around the paddock.”
