Little DK won the hearts of readers on both sides of the border, who voted in their droves for the blue-eyed boy to run away with the top tot prize.
Hundreds of votes were cast throughout the course of the competition, which was launched at the end of January.
Twenty-five first-round entrants, who appeared in the papers on January 31, were whittled down by readers to a final 10.
Readers then selected their favourite tot from the top 10, and phone, text and post votes for the finalists were added to the first round tally.
Runaway winner was three-year-old Drew Keith Gunn, who’s known to his friends and family as DK.
On hearing the news that her son had earned top spot in the competition, proud mum Sam Gunn said: “This has made my day.”
Sam will now receive a 20x16 inch canvas print of DK, which was taken by the professional tot idol photographer, to put up at her home.
“It’s a lovely picture of DK so it will be great to get it on a canvas,” she said. “It was such a nice picture that I bought the photos, but it will be great to get a big one for the wall.
“Everyone will be really pleased - especially DK because I promised to buy him a new set of play dough if he won!”
DK, who goes to the Careshare nursery in Melrose, enjoys playing with his friends.
He had his entry photograph taken in Galashiels. “He was really good,” Sam said.
“The photographer that took the picture was great with him and DKI just smiled away.”
