Labour’s Berwick candidate Scott Dickinson admits he is naturally disappointed after the Party has endured a beating in the 2015 General Election.
Labour has been hammered in Scotland, as well as suffering losses throughout England and Wales, with Ed Balls losing his Morley and Outwood seat and leader Ed Miliband expected to stand down.
As a result, the Conservatives have defied the pre-election odds by moving towards a majority government, while the SNP has taken 56 seats in a landslide north of the border.
Speaking at the count in Alnwick this morning, with a result expected at around noon, Mr Dickinson said: “I certainly did not see it going this way, not on the scale that it has done.
“There hasn’t been a clear indication of what will happen and the picture that has played out hasn’t been what many people expected. It is naturally disappointing.”
