The advice service helps people in the district with a wide range of issues such as debt, benefits, employment and housing and for the past two years Fairer Scotland has been funding the appointment of a young persons’ adviser.

This project has empowered many young people aged 16-25 living in the Berwickshire Area and getting young volunteers on board is the next step in understanding and being able to help people in that age group. There are drop in surgeries currently being held in:

Chirnside Community Centre on a Monday 11.30-1pm

Eyemouth Community Centre on Monday 12-3pm and Wednesday/Thursday 10-1pm

Southfield Community Centre in Duns on Tuesday 12-3pm and Thursday 10-1pm.

There is no appointment needed so just come along or phone the youth adviser, Annette, on 07508331513.

“As the project grows and develops we are looking for young, enthusiastic people to come on board and give us a hand.,” said Annette.

“ We are interested in any skills and abilities that you feel you could bring to the service and as much or as little time as you have to spare.

“Our aims for the near future are to have at lease one volunteer to work with the youth adviser in the surgeries and a small focus group of volunteers creating, developing and maintaining a facebook, Twitter and community Website page advertising the project to young people living in the area.”

If you feel you could help in any way then please contact Annette, on 01361 883340 or 07508331513.
