Volunteer Hall hosts Heart of Duns Beer and Food Festival

Duns group A Heart for Duns hosts its first beer and food festival in the town’s Volunteer Hall this Saturday, April 18.

The community group has run various events over the past 18 months, including food and craft markets, film nights, and an anniversary performance of The Messiah in February.

Now, with a great deal of support from businesses and individuals in the town, it is turning its hand to a beer and food festival.

The beer component is being organised by Alan Turner, of The Black Bull Hotel in Duns, who has brought together a range of real ales from Bear Claw, Broughton Ales, Hexhamshire, Knops and Scottish Borders Brewery, plus wine and soft drinks.

The food aspect is being co-ordinated by Drew Wilson, owner of Fish & Fine Foods. A skilled chef who has worked at The Savoy and The Sheraton Hotel, he will cook three different fish dishes during the afternoon. Street food will be available from Duns Desi Dish, Foston’s Fine Meats and The Honest Crust, as well as a hog roast from Edinburgh-based Oink. Admission is free.
