People from across the Borders and Northumberland generously gave up their Saturday morning on February 18 to attend an open day at Paxton House to find out about getting involved as volunteers.
Members of staff showed them around the House and the gardens and explained a little bit about what being a volunteer would involve.
George Mack, Paxton’s Business Development Officer said: “We were delighted with the enthusiastic response we got to our appeal for volunteers.
“We are very grateful to everyone for coming along today and look forward to working with them over this coming season”
In the spirit of partnership Kara ter Morsche, events and promotions officer from Gunsgreen House was invited along to have a stand on the day as Gunsgreen are also keen to recruit volunteers. Representatives from Volunteer Centre Borders and Volunteer Centre Northumberland also attended.
Paxton House is still looking for more volunteers, especially Room Stewards and welcome enquiries about volunteering opportunities. Anyone interested in taking up a position should contact George Mack on (01289) 386291.
Opportunities available include: room stewards, gardeners, marketing and events, wildlife spotting, education, costume and helping to research and look after Paxton House’s historic collections.
