Health and social care issues were top of the agenda when Borders Voluntary Care Voice members met local MSPs.
Christine Grahame (SNP), Claudia Beamish (Lab) and John Lamont (Con) were at the event in Galashiels. Jim Hume was unable to attend, but the Liberal Democrats were represented by SBC councillor Catriona Bhatia.
Topics discussed included: health and social care integration; Self-Directed Support and its roll-out in the Borders; welfare reforms; SBC’s decision to create an arms-length organisation for social care; the Smith Commission recommendations.
Co-ordinator of Borders Voluntary Care Voice, Jenny Miller, said: “We are grateful to the MSPs for taking the time to come along and discuss a wide range of issues. It gives us a chance to share information and highlight any concerns we might have about health and social care issues in the Borders.”
