Speed limits at Cockburnspath, Allanton, Houndwood and Westruther are being extended and a limit introduced at Foulden Newton.
A speed limit review was carried out across the Borders last year by council roads officers and the police, The result of this review is the recommendations that the speed limit on 12 lengths of road across the region should be changed, five of them in Berwickshire.
Councillors at this week’s meeting of Berwickshire Area Forum agreed to the changes.
A 40mph limit will be added to the north of the existing 30mph limit at Cockburnspath, extending from the roundabout.
At Allanton the 30mph will extend north to cover the junction of the B6437 to beyond the Allanbank Mill buildings.
The 30mph limit at Westruther will extend south to the residential boundary, while at Houndwood the 30mph limit will extend north to the A1 junction.
A 30mph limit from north of Bastle road, south to the Deneview access road is being introduced at Foulden Newton.
