Police Scotland has issued a warning to East Lothian residents following a spate of vehicle crimes in the area.
Over the last few weeks several break-ins to cars have occurred in East Lothian, which has resulted in a number of cars being stolen or having valuable items taken from them.
Officers believe that certain vehicles are being targeted due to the owners leaving their cars unlocked, or having valuable items, such as purses/wallets, mobile telephones and money on display, with offenders taking full advantage of these opportunities.
In response to these incidents, police have launched Operation Fusion as part of an East Lothian wide initiative to target all vehicle related crime and bring those responsible to justice.
Police are asking the public to be aware that these incidents are happening in their local area and to be vigilant when securing their vehicles. The public are also reminded not to leave valuable items within cars, check that their vehicle alarm is working and consider purchasing a steering wheel lock to deter thefts.
