The search for a missing angler off the Berwickshire coast was called off this morning.
Both Eyemouth ALB and ILB lifeboats had been called out at 5.27pm on Sunday September 6, following reports from SCottish Ambulance that two anglers had been knocked into the sea by a large wave while fishing close to Eyemouth.
One of them was able to make it back to shore, but the other was still unaccounted for on Sunday night.
The Eyemouth lifeboats were joined by the St Abbs lifeboat which had offered its services after being alerted by a member of the public, along with a rescue helicopter and coastguard teams from Berwick, North Berwick, St Abbs and Eyemouth, and carried out an extensive search of the area.
The search was stood down at nightfall, and continued at first light, around 5am, this morning (Monday, September 7).
Unfortunately, nothing was found and all search units were stood down by Aberdeen Coastguard at 8am.
