Drivers travelling in the Borders are requested to please use the official diversion route for the A68 Fala Dam closure.

AMEY has fenced off the damaged section of A68 carriageway in Midlothian while geotechnical investigations are carried out.

The results of these investigations will inform the proposed solution.

The A68 is a trunk road and therefore the responsibility of the trunk road operator.

Northbound traffic is diverted via A6091 Melrose Bypass to Galashiels, A7 to the north side of Heriot and use the B6458 Tynehead Road, with the same diversion in the opposite direction.

Drivers are advised to take extra care on all routes and in particular to avoid using the B6362 Stow to Lauder Road for the benefit of local residents who have seen a significant increase in traffic on this road.

As a result of some drivers failing to use the official diversion route, the B6362 Stow to Lauder Road will have a 7.5tonne weight limit imposed early next week until the A68 reopens.
