A special tribute to Piper Daniel Laidlaw VC - The Piper of Loos’ - will be unveiled in Swinton on Friday, September 25.
This year will be the 100th anniversary of Piper Laidlaw receiving the Victoria Cross.
Born in 1875 at Little Swinton, Daniel Laidlaw served with the 2nd Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and then the KOSB. He is buried in Norham.
A special stone will be unveiled at the war memorial in Swinton at 1pm and the ceremony will be attended by members of his family. There will be a short service of commemoration and members of the public are more than welcome to attend.
