Sixty of the best disc golfers from around the world converged on Dunbar at the weekend for the British Disc Golf Open.
The event was hosted by Scotland’s only disc golf company, ReBoot Disc Golf, based at Foxlake Adventures in Dunbar.
The weekend’s competition was the start of the 2015 European Tour and was sponsored by Vibram. The event was also the first stop on the Scottish Quaich Tour where players representing over eight countries, including European Champion Seppo Paju from Finland and Scottish Champion, Seonaidh Charity, will compete for a prize in excess of £2k and locally sponsored prizes.
The sport is enjoying an explosion of interest from people of all ages and abilities around the world with the number of people now playing weekly in East Lothian quadrupling since 2013.
The eventual winner was Tobias Östling from Sweden ahead of favourite and current European champion Seppo Paju. Third prize went to Tomas Rosenqvist, also from Sweden. All received a cash prize and silver plated disc.
Seamus Scanlon, Reboot founder and organiser of the event said: “Over 60 players attended the event which was a huge success. It was great to see so many players from so many countries competing here in East Lothian.
“My thanks and appreciation go to everyone who supported the event especially East Lothian Council. I’m confident that not only will interest in this sport continue to grow at a phenomenal rate but that we will continue to play high-end professional games like this in Dunbar for years to come.”
