BERWICKSHIRE Group RDA has had another busy and eventful year.

New horse Toby has settled in well and with help from Aspen Delikat, Caffrys, Bug Guinness, Nart Simpson and Baloo, gives exercise and enjoyment to 45 risers and vaulters each week.

In the past year the Monday Vaulters have performed their version of the Nativity Play and six riders were at the cutting edge of RDA as they planned and delivered training at the Borders County Training Day, this format is now being used throughout the UK.

Six group teams took part in the Borders Inter Group Quiz and they all did very well with Alice Rutherford and Anne Hutchinson being the worthy winners.

Vaulters have taken part in two competitions in preparation for the team’s appearance at the RDA National Championships and Barbara Berkowitz and Anne Hutchinson join them as they qualified at the Regional Dressage Competition where Alice Rutherford also took part for the first time.

Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning riders took part in the National Music Ride competition and two teams went through to the finals and both earned a second place.

Many riders and vaulters have worked hard and taken and passed their Grade tests and three of them successfully completed their ASDAN Transition Challenge and six their ASDAN Towards Independence.

None of this could happen without the wonderful and dedicated work done by the group volunteers who come faithfully every week to give help and encouragement to all the group clients.

The end of term competitions produced some interesing results and the 2012 trophies for most improved vaulters and risers were awarded as follows: The Borthwick Trophy- Patricia Glass; The Snoopy Trophy- Bobby McMail; Andy Millar Quaich; The Domino Trophy- Mary Carmichael; The Tony Trophy- Trevor Hanley; The Nisbet Trophy- Aspen Delikat; The Tully Trophy- Susan Patterson.
