St Abbs Friday Market stallholders knew they wanted to give something back to the community that has supported them since the market began in 2012.
But when they had the idea of a “cheeky” charity calendar they didn’t realise how important its success would be.
Sue Dewhurst explained: “We wanted the money raised from selling the calendar to go to the St Abbs lifeboat but just before we were due to go to print the RNLI announced their decision to close the station so now it’s even more important that the calendar raises funds for the new independent lifeboat.
“The pictures were taken by local photographer Kevin O’Brien, and he has done a fantastic job of capturing the beauty of the area, rather than just being pictures of some middle-aged people with no clothes on!”
The market opens every Friday until Christmas in The Ebba Centre, from 10am.
Sue added: “We have special events throughout the season and this Friday (October 23) is ‘Foodie Friday’ when we’re staying open, until 6pm. We have fresh and smoked local fish, home-baking, cheeses, African sauces, Italian deli, Belgian chocolates, preserves, fruit and veg, butchery and freshly baked speciality breads topped off with a selection of tipples to go towards a jolly festive season.”
The calendar is on sale at the market and around the area and can be ordered online at www.st-abbs-market.com.
The marketeers would like to thank local businesses for their help with the calendar’s printing costs that mean all the profits from sales can go to the fund for an independent lifeboat.
