Don’t miss an unique experience on October 1 and 2 when Selkirk WASPS open their doors again to the public for their annual ‘Open Studios’ event at St Mary’s Mill, Selkirk.
A popular event for all ages, this is a rare opportunity to view a diverse range of work by the artists, explore their working environment, and enjoy a programme of arts workshops for all ages, talks, demonstrations, live music and plenty of good home baking!
The artists work across textiles, painting, mosaic, sculpture, print, film, and puppetry.
St Mary’s Mill is a former working textile mill, and is an informal and atmospheric space in which to enjoy high quality art and meet the artists who make it.
The event is free, and runs from 10-5pm. During the weekend, there will be free arts workshops and demonstrations. Artist Joy Parker will lead a sculpture workshop using plaster bandage and wire. The workshop will run on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 4pm, for drop in sessions. Suitable for all ages, though younger children may need assistance. Moy Mackay will demonstrate the felting techniques she uses to create her beautiful paintings at 1.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, and there will be short 5 minute talks by the artists every hour, on the hour.
