The first £250,000 of investment in a seafood technology park in Eyemouth could be made this week by Scottish Borders Council.

Securing the port’s fishing industry is part of the Scottish Borders ten year plan and councillors are being asked to agree to spending a portion of £1.3 million of Borders-wide funding on providing the infrastructure for the park.

The success of existing seafood processors at the harbour means they are now looking to expand and Gunsgreenhill Industrial Estate has been targeted as the best location for modern production units and better access.

A seafood technology park at Eyemouth is part of Scottish Borders Council’s target to support the creation or safeguarding of 2,000 jobs in the Borders, and to support £200 million of investment and development.
