VIEWERS will have the chance to learn more about the local planning process by tuning into a new BBC Two documentary called ‘The Planners’ which starts at 8pm tonight.
The new eight-part observational documentary provides an insight into the work of a number of planning officers across the UK and three of the programmes will include the work of the planning team at Scottish Borders Council.
SBC is set to feature in programmes two, four and five.
The documentary was shot over a six-month period, and follows home owners, property developers and businesses as they take part in the planning process.
Each episode includes a range of different stories highlighting properties and buildings at different stages within the planning process.
SBC’s Executive Member for Planning and the Environment, Councillor Ron Smith said: “We agreed to take part in this programme as we felt it would be good opportunity for members of the public to see what is involved in the planning process.
“I do hope members of the public tune in and see that we have a good, clear planning process here in the Scottish Borders.”
Liam Keelan, Controller for BBC Daytime who commissioned the programme added: “The Planners is a subject area that everyone has an interest in, particularly in these straitened times. I’m sure the programme will prove popular with the BBC Two audience.”
