Salvation Army benefits as Reston lights are switched on

Reston villagers turned out in force to see this year’s Christmas lights switched on.

There were carol singers who walked through the village raising money for the Salvation Army raising over £43. Reston Band members accompanied the carol singers. and there was a special countdown to switching on the lights before everyone then retired to the village hall for welcome hot chocolate and marshmallows.

The newly formed Social Events Committee in Reston is planning an event each month and have organised a Hogmanay Shindig, planned for New Year’s Eve.

This is sure to be a real community spirited event with everyone bringing a plate of food for the buffet and a bottle of their favourite tipple.

There will be ceilidh and disco music as well as fun and games for the whole family and a raffle for a luxury hamper.

All fundraising efforts go towards the planned Reston and Auchencrow Village Fair on June 27. 2015.
