Royal wedding holiday for council staff

april 29, this year has been declared an additional holiday to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, and staff at Scottish Borders Council look as if they will also be able to join in the celebrations with a day off.

Both the Westminster and Scottish Governments have announced the additional one-off holiday on Friday, April 29, and in order to avoid “adverse implications for staff morale” if they did not allow council employees to benefit, Scottish Borders Council’s human resources department is recommending that councillors approve giving them the additional fixed day holiday granted by the UK Government and the Scottish Government.

The cost to Scottish Borders Council has been estimated at £62,242 which can be met out of the revenue budget.
