St Abbs RNLI lifeboat crew are sending out an SOS to the Borders, appealing for people to support RNLI SOS day, the charity’s largest annual fundraiser, on Friday, January 28.

The event raises money to help train and equip lifeboat crews and you can use the SOS acronym in any way you like.

Ideas already planned include Surf Off Scotland, Sample Our Scones or even Shave Our Scalps! to help raise money to train and equip lifeboat crews.

Like many other schools around the UK, Coldingham Primary School and Duns Primary School are fundraising for the RNLI SOS day.

Local pubs are also getting in on the act with The Anchor, Coldingham, running a Select Our Station sweepstake for over 18s.

St Abbs RNLI have organised a Charity Dinner Dance on February 4 to be held in Foulden Village Hall in aid of the appeal. Tickets for the dinner are being sold at only £25 and with a local crew member preparing the meal it’s one not to be missed!

The deadline to buy tickets is Friday, January 28.

Dance tickets can be bought on the door or before the night direct from Martin Galloway for just £5.

The dance starts at 8pm with beef stovies being served at the interval. Live music is being provided by Ewan Galloway and his Scottish Dance Band.

Raffle tickets are on sale at the Post Office, St Abbs and the Spar, Coldingham. There are some great prizes on offer including the first prize of a water-colour painting by Eyemouth artist David Dougal.
