Referendum debate not screened by Border TV

A Scottish National Party MSP is furious that the independence referendum debate between Alex Salmon and Alistair Darling wasn’t screened by Border Television on Tuesday evening.

The decision by Border Television to restrict the debate to Freeview “is nothing short of a scandal and a disgrace”, according to SNP MSP Christine Grahame who argues that it disenfranchised tens of thousands of voters in the South of Scotland.

The Member for Midlothian South, Tweeddale & Lauderdale said: “We’ve had all the negative campaigning by the NO campaign and by the Westminster Select Committee covered by Border TV yet we got restricted coverage of this week’s debate which will be one of the most important events in the run up to September 18.”

While the rest of Scotland watched the debate Border TV viewers were watching ‘Love Your Garden’.
