Duns residents are in for a real treat next week when The Rattlin Crew give their 2015 Concert in the town’s Vounteer Hall.

The concert, on Thursday, November 19, starts and 7pm and Crew member Davie Scott, in his own inimitable style, says: “Dinnae miss the stert, it’ll be smashin!”

Every penny raised at the event - after hall expenses - will be donated to the Duns Summer Festival.

Davie said: “We hope that if this concert is as well received as our last one which was held five years ago, we may think about making it an annual event.

“We have friends from around the Borders coming along to help entertain the audience so its all local talent.

“There’s Scocha and Gaeldom, Bobby Hanlon from Coldstream and we will even be getting our Reiver Darren Aitchison up to give us a song.

“And, of course, we will have Duns Pipe Band, the best pipe band in the Borders, doing their bit.”

Others featuring are Ex-Reivers Dougal Affleck and Scott Lackenby, Musselburgh’s Ali Barclay, young Sophie Aitchison, Nella Feeney and, of course, The Rattlin Crew Chorus.

Davie added: “Most people in Duns get involved with the Summer Festival in one way or another whether it’s as a rider, a child at the school who has been in the Wynsome Mayde’s court, a ‘hauder’ of horses, a sports club member, an organiser, a spectator etc. so hopefully we will get a big crowd. It takes a lot of money for the dedicated folk on the Summer Festival committee to put on this great week of events so every penny counts.”

Duns Summer Fesival Committee will be supplying teas and coffees on the night and juice for the children.

A Heart for Duns will also run a bar and a donation from the proceeds will also go to Duns Summer Fetival as will the money raised from the raffle.

Tickets are priced £6 (concessions £5) and are available at Sentiments (the flower shop), Number 18, The Baguette Shop, Baby and Beauty and Harbro Farm Supplies.
