STUDENTS from Eyemouth and Berwickshire High Schools came together with community learning and development to receive training in IT skills.
These skills were put to good practice as they helped to develop new leaflets, explaining local services to young people in a way they would appreciate and understand. This challenge was organised by Els Nicol and Tanya Easton in the hope of showing young people the impact they could make on their communities. ‘
Els, CLD worker for Berwickshire said: “We decided to have one training day in each school to help young people gain an overview of the different communities. It was a huge success and something I would really like to do again.
Tanya Easton, the youth development worker supported this too. She added: “What could be better than young people designing and producing information leaflets for other young people?”
One Berwickshire organisation is now looking into printing the design made by the group for their particular service. The challenge was rewarded with a Silver Youth Achievement Award Certificate.
