SCOTTISH Borders Council is urging residents to make their voices heard at meetings of the new Area Forums for the region, the first of which was held yesterday, Wednesday November 7.

Each Forum will be specifically tailored around the issues affecting each area and all meetings are open to the public.

Prior to each meeting will be a market stall area where people can drop-in, meet staff, and pick up information about local issues at their convenience. Some local councillors will also be in attendance to speak to locals about any issues.

Councillor David Parker, Leader of SBC explained: “The aim of each Area Forum is to gain an understanding from residents about what matters to them in their local community and how local communities can work with the council to ensure services are the best that can be provided. We need as many local people as possible to come along to these events to help us help them in their community. We also want local people to tell us what issues or topics they want each Forum to cover to make sure we are covering the topics that really matter to them.”

The first Berwickshire Area Forum will be held on Thursday, December 6 at 6.30pm with the venue to be confirmed.
