Wind farm developers RES Ltd are holding a public meeting in Duns next week to give local people the opportunity to see their plans for a wind farm at Black Rig.
The public meeting is in Southfield Community Centre, on Wednesday, May 20, from 11am–8pm and representatives from RES Ltd will be there to answer questions from members of the public about the plans for the 10 turbine (down from the 14 initially proposed) wind farm five miles west of Duns.
RES representatives attended the recent meeting of Duns Community Council to explain the project, suggesting that the community council may wish to lead in setting up a community benefit group. This will be considered at the next meeting.
RES says it is working with all local communities affected: Gavinton, Fogo, Polworth, Duns, Cranshaws, Ellemford, Longformacus, Greenlaw, Hume, Gordon and Westruther.
RES operate a number of wind farms across the UK including Dun Law wind farm at Soutra (since 2000) and Black Hill north west of Duns since 2007. They also received planning consent in 2013 for a 14 turbine wind farm at Penmanshiel.
