Suspension of pay and display parking in Scottish Borders is coming to an end
Pay and Display in car parks in the Scottish Borders will return tomorrow (Monday, August 10).
Pay and Display was suspended at the start of the Coronavirus lockdown but as part of Scottish Borders Council’s phased recovery approach, it will return in August.
While charging will return on August 10, for the first week until August 17, parking attendants visiting car parks across the Borders will aim to offer advice to drivers regarding non-payment rather than immediately issuing a penalty.
Tracey Logan, Scottish Borders Council’s chief executive, said: “This phased approach will give the public some time to adjust to the return of Pay and Display, and allow permit holders to receive their renewals.”
In order to minimise use of cash payments, parking attendants will also encourage the public to use the RingGo app which allows drivers to use their mobile phone to pay via debit or credit card.
Drivers can register for RingGo at its website
Both Pay and Display and free of charge car parks operate across the Borders. Information is available at Scottish Borders Car Parks
