Police warning for local traders

OVER the last few days several incidents have occurred in the Scottish Borders involving suspect people successfully utilising confusion tactics to defraud retailers of cash.

Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing but Lothian and Borders Police are warning retailers and specifically tellers to be aware of customers purchasing items with large amounts of cash.

If suspicion is raised be as vigilant as possible and ensure that all money is carefully counted. If possible request the assistance of a colleague or supervisor to oversee the transaction.
